​AKRON, OHIO, May 16, 2011 – Myers Industries, Inc., under the leadership of the IT Director Patrick Bell, has been using SharePoint since 2004. Originally adopted to accommodate document management intranets and the new government requirements for Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX), Patrick felt that "Myers needed a tool that was flexible due to the evolving regulation landscape for public companies. SharePoint met that challenge and enabled us to meet the audit requirements for SOX."
In 2010 Patrick took SharePoint one step further to automate business processes. His team began to try and tackle very complex workflows using Visual Studio and other Microsoft programming techniques, but found the process to be cumbersome. "After working with SharePoint for a number of years, we knew that the product has significant functions available that we just did not have time to implement."
